Sgt. Gavin Hoene expresses his excitement in welcoming another new member to the Illinois Army National Guard. In February, Pvt. Isaac Thompson demonstrated his commitment to serving his community and country by enlisting in the Illinois Army National Guard as an 11B (Infantryman). As a current junior, Pvt. Thompson is set to receive a $20,000 enlistment bonus, gain valuable experiences, and make use of the benefits offered by the Army National Guard. He will undergo Basic Combat Training this summer, followed by further training at the U.S. Army Infantry School upon graduating after his senior year. Teutopolis High School applauds Pvt. Thompson for his patriotic choice and extends its best wishes for his future endeavors!

Sgt. Gavin Hoene is delighted to introduce a recent addition to the Illinois Army National Guard. In February, Pvt. Avry Kreke made the commendable choice to enlist in the Illinois Army National Guard. With an interest in the medical field, Pvt. Kreke has joined as a 68W (Combat Medic Specialist). Currently a junior, she will undergo Basic Combat Training this summer and resume training after her senior year. Subsequently, she plans to attend college where she will utilize her college benefits and leverage the certificates earned during her training to distinguish herself from her peers. Teutopolis High School is thrilled to congratulate Pvt. Kreke and is proud to witness her decision to serve our country.

On March 14th, otherwise known as Pi Day, students in Mrs. K. Metteā€™s Geometry and Algebra 2 classes celebrated the irrational number, Pi. They completed Pi Day activities, which included fun facts about pi and creating artwork in honor Albert Einstein's birthday, which is on Pi Day! And of course, what would be a Pi Day celebration without eating some delicious pie!

Thank you to Distress Bandanna and Ameren Illinois for presenting our Driver Ed students with lots of good safety tips, especially what to do if they ever encounter a downed power line. 1. Assume all downed lines are energized. 2. Do not drive over downed power lines. 3. Stay in your car. 4. If in danger, jump away from the car and land with both feet together. Shuffle step with your feet close together until you are at least 35 feet from the downed power line.
